School Counsellors Conference, Wellington, 17 - 19 November 2021
We are excited to present Mauri Ora 2021, the National Conference for School Counsellors being held in beautiful Te Whanganui-a-Tara from the 17th to the 19th November 2021. Click here to view the official website.
This conference is a unique opportunity for those of us on the frontline working in schools throughout the country to learn, reflect, collaborate and network.
The kaupapa is Mauri Ora: strengthening wellbeing within Aotearoa, and supporting our rangatahi and whānau to thrive. School counsellors are strategically placed and are increasingly being called upon as ‘first responders’ to mental health crises.
Our conference supports and equips our dedicated school counsellor community throughout Aotearoa as they do this essential work.
Te Pakiaka Tangata (2017), the recent report into Pastoral care, Guidance and Counselling in New Zealand states:
Many of the challenges adolescents deal with are becoming increasingly complex…Schools are in a unique position to work with other agencies and the wider community to help improve and support young people’s wellbeing.Within an unstable and uncertain world, schools have the potential to be places of safety, stability and security where young people can experience connection and belonging that supports their development.
We would love to have you join us in sunny Wellington and share Mauri Ora 2021 with us. Please register your expression of interest and we will keep you updated.
Ngā mihi
Nā Te Komiti Mauri Ora 2021
